Editorials - The Story of the Ocarina of Time
I have been checking out reviews and comments all over the internet of the newest Zelda game, and most everyone agrees it is a superb game, and I agree very much that it may very well be the best game ever. However, there are many people who state, as a drawback, the lack of story within the game, and I think it is sad.  All of these professed Zelda fans seem not to pick up on all the intricate story details within the game.  Admittadly, there is not a thirty minute movie to watch at the beginning like some games, but there are four previous games, whose stories create the setting of the Ocarina of Time. I just got the game about two weeks ago, and therefore am not quite finished with it, so I do not know what last knowledges are handed to us at the end, however, I think it plenty obvious Shiek is Link's future self and that in and of itself is a great little mysterious story (and nobody go saying anything about the red eyes, because in the Japanesse previews he had blue eyes like Link). But that aside, I have seen little acknowledging who this Link is, so I want to explain it, so that the complexity of the stories can actually be acknowledged. First of all, it should take about 15 seconds after turning on the game to notice his blonde hair, proving him a different person. And the name Ganondorf: where have we heard this name before? In A Link to the Past. In fact, this whole game is the story of A Link to the Past. The village our modern Link will live in is the same openned by Impa to the refugees from the Market, and where is the Master Sword for the modern Link to find it?  In the Lost Woods of course, lodged into the platform just before the Forest Temple (partly, I would assume, in rememberance of a great friend, Saria). So now the comment it, "There just happen to be both a Link and a Zelda in the past so long ago and in the modern era?" Well, if you have read the story to The Adventure of Link, which begins just after the death of a Hyrule king long ago (most likely killed by Gannondorf during his siege), it tells that all princesses thereafter were to be named Zelda.  And I think, since the Sage of Light seems so obviosly to be Link's "uncle" from A Link to the Past, that our modern Link's name is not too great a mystery.  All the previous Legend of Zelda games are tied together so increadibly in this prequal, even Link's Awakening's owl is everpresent with helpful advise, as the reincarnation of a Sage, most likely the past's Link, considering he most probably is the Sage of Time, though I know not that for sure. This game has not only a great story, but an epic one, and anyone who says otherwise is too caught up in watching cut-scenes than thinking about what they should already know in comparison to what is standing just before them. It is not my intent to sound hostile, it just grates my nerves to see so much inobservence of one of the best fantasy stories ever.
Thanks for visiting! :)
