Long has it been know that the Royal Family of Hyrule possesses mystical powers.Though the exact form and extent of those powers is unknown, it is said that the source of their might comes from certain mysterious melodies that have been passed down through the ages.

Though a skilled practitioner of the arts might use any musical instrument to play the melodies of power, a few specially constructed instruments of great power have been manufactured by especially gifted craftsmen of the Royal Family's bloodline. One instrument, the Ocarina of Time, appears often in the sagas of Hyrule.
